  1. Hi, I just discovered your site — what a great resource!!! We are going to be arriving in Bucharest in the late afternoon/early evening (July), and I want to get some bottles of Romanian wine to take on the ship with us to enjoy as we travel to Budapest. Since there won’t really be time to sample wines before we go to the store, are there any particular dry red wines that you recommend? At home, we enjoy Pinot Noir and Merlot. We will be back in Budapest in late October for a few days and look forward then to trying some of the wine bars and beer bars.

We travel a lot internationally, and are looking forward to using your site often and sharing it with our fellow travelers.

    • I think you will be better off going to one of those local wine shops we mentioned and asking for their advice as they are the true experts on the region. They may even let you sample a few before you decide which to take.
